Stainless Steel Disc Springs

SPIROL offers a line of austenitic stainless steel Disc Springs in diameters ranging from Ø8mm to Ø71mm. Austenitic stainless steel is typically used for static and low cycle applications that require a heightened level of corrosion resistance. It withstands fresh water and atmospheric marine conditions very well, and is suitable for many other industrial conditions including acidic environments. This material will continue to work harden with use so cycle life is limited, but creep resistance is good.

SPIROL supplies both single Disc Springs as well as Pre-Stacked Disc Springs in custom configurations, packaged in shrink wrap with a perforated tab for easy of assembly.

What is the difference between a Belleville Washer and a Disc Spring?
While the terms Disc Springs and Belleville Washers are often used interchangeably, there are several important technical differences that should be clearly understood by Design Engineers. Belleville Washers are primarily used in heavy duty applications fastened together with a bolt where the load is considered static. Disc Springs can be statically loaded either continuously or intermittently, or dynamically subjected to continuous load cycling. Unlike Belleville Washers, Disc Springs are designed specifically to provide a repeatable force-travel relationship, and have a long and predictable fatigue life in dynamic or cycling applications. What is the life cycle of your Disc Springs?
Deflection of a Disc Spring at a given load is predictable making it possible to calculate force and stress levels in the Disc. As the Disc Spring flexes, stress levels in the Disc change; the greater the change, the faster the Disc Spring fatigues.
